More than every other Russian (59%) is certain that the Russian authorities cannot protect the nation from new terrorist attacks, 32% of Russians believe that they can be protected by the authorities, and 10% were unsure.   This data was published by the Yuri Levada Analytical Center (Levada-Center) based on the results of a public poll conducted July 13-16, 2007.

The poll showed that half of all Russians (47%) think that the Russian special services and the interior ministry can save them from terror acts.  Almost as many Russian citizens (42%) were certain of the opposite, while 12% were unsure.

According to data from the poll, every other Russian (52%) "to some extent worries" that they or their loved ones may become victims of terror acts, 21% of the population "is very worried about it", 10% are certain that it will never happen, and 14% of the citizenry have never given it any thought.  1600 Russians took part in the poll, and the statistical error in such polls is no more than 3%.
