The suicide bomber who blew himself up near the National Security Committee building in the Kazakh city of Aktobe was wearing a ‘shahid’ (martyr) belt.

According to eyewitnesses, the suicide bomber ran towards the building and then blew himself up. Local residents also said that earlier suspicious persons rented one of the buildings in the immediate neighborhood.

Four people were injured in the blast, including a warrant officer who tried to block the suicide bomber’s way.  Victims were sent to the city hospital, according to ITAR-TASS.

Rapid reaction forces are carrying out an operation to identify and detain individuals involved in this terrorist act, while the Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan intends to hold a briefing in the afternoon
