European Court Closes Terror Trial |

 The European Court of Human Rights has closed to the public the trial on the suits by the victims of the October 2002 terrorist act at
the play Nord-Ost at the theater center in Dubrovka, in Moscow, at the
insistence of Russia, which promised to provide a detailed account of
the freeing of the hostages there, to reveal the formula of the gas
used to narcotize those inside the theater and the names of the special
operations agents involved in the action. Surviving audience members
and relatives of those killed at the theater will make material claims
against Russia at the trial.
The European Court closes trials for reasons of morals, public order,
state security, for the protection of minors and to protect trial
participants’ private lives. Lawyer for the claimants Igor Trunov
commented that “By appealing to the materials in the case, the Russian
representative at the European Court [Veronika Milinchuk] is trying to
convince her colleagues that the Russian state and special services did
all they could to free the hostages, but the situation was so difficult
that they couldn’t save everyone.

MOSCOW, 18 JUN - RIA Novosti. The investigating committee from the
Russian State Prosecutor's Office has completed its preliminary
investigation into the murder case involving Anna Politkovksya,
reported Vladimir Markin, an official representative of the committee
to RIA Novosti.
News reviewer for Novaya Gazeta, Anna Politkovskaya, was killed on the
evening of October 7th, 2006, in the stairwell of her home on Lesnaya

 Премьера спектакля «В твоих руках», основанного на
реальных событиях — захвате заложников во время мюзикла «Норд-Ост», состоялась
в Дагестане. Автор Наталья Пелевайн долгое время безуспешно пыталась заинтересовать своей пьесой
российские театры (в первую очередь Москву). По ее словам «были люди, которые боялись, что после этого
им государство перестанет давать на театр деньги, что как-то это на них отразится
лично, а кто-то просто говорил - знаешь, Наталья, подумав, хотим сказать
честно, что не пойдут люди на это, ну не пойдут». Решился лишь главный режиссер Русского
драматического театра в Махачкале Скандербек Тулпаров. Простые зрители устроили
овацию, зато представители власти не просто демонстративно покинули зал – на следующий
день по указанию руководства Дагестана спектакль был снят, хотя до этого
планировалось еще два премьерных показа и билеты на них были проданы.

читатели могли сами судить – заслуживает ли автор обвинения в «прославлении
терроризма», которые выдвинул Президент Дагестана Муху
Алиев.

 Уже в первый месяц пребывания на президентском посту
Дмитрий Медведев получил несколько открытых писем, в которых авторы
просили главу государства пересмотреть некоторые судебные решения или
же возобновить расследования по нашумевшим делам.
На прошлой неделе правозащитники направили в Кремль письмо с просьбой о
помиловании 15 граждан России, в числе которых один из бывших
собственников «ЮКОСа» Михаил Ходорковский и упрятанные за решетку по
обвинению в шпионаже ученые.
Авторы письма пишут, что без освобождения политзаключенных государство
нельзя считать демократическим, и поэтому от дальнейших шагов Медведева
будет зависеть моральное право России продолжать свое участие в
«большой восьмерке».
