Age 18, from Russia, Moscow. When I was little, I very much wanted a little brother, and so, on June 22nd, 1984, Pavel was born. He was a little premature. Mom said he was born quickly, and was very small, but I remember him as a little In childhood, anything can happen: we would play and never get enough of it, then suddenly get in a fight and not speak to each other or hours. We used to build little houses for my dolls, or highways for his toy cars. Once he wanted very much to get something out of me. ‘Pasha’ (Pavel) came up to me, hugged me, and whispered in my ear: “Oh, please, after all, I'm your little sis.” That is how he remained — my favorite little sis. He knew me as a sister would, though he was always my brother. In the evenings we would tell each other scary stories. We never betrayed each other, and never tattled to our parents if they knew that someone was at guilty of something! We used to collect stickers together, and we each had our own album, though the stickers in them were almost identical. He wanted anything I had, and vice versa. I was recently leafing through them and noticed that I had more cats, while he had more dragons, but all the other stickers were duplicates. Every summer, my brother and I went to summer camp. Athletics and hiking was interesting and fun, and even now we kept all our awards from the sports competitions: award certificates in table tennis and running short distances. When my brother grew older, he helped dad build our country house. My brother liked computer games, and loved spending time with his friends and girlfriends. He had so many friends! There was Vovka, Denis, Andrei, Sergei, Maxim, and I cannot remember how many others, but these guys still come visit us. They tell us about themselves, and talk about him, how they grew up and matured together, how they played around together. They talked about their studies, and how they would go on dates with girls. His friends are all grown up now, and some are married and have children already, while all we have of Pavel are our memories. My brother loved to listen to music, all kinds of music. I still have a lot of his recordings, and when I am sad I put some of his music on, and I feel a little better. As far as books, he loved Lukyanenko and the all ‘Watchmen’ series. I think he would have liked seeing the movies based on these books, but all these movies come out later, in 2004. As far as films, he liked ‘Amelia’. We watched the movie on the computer, and though the quality was not very good, we had comfortable easy chairs and all sorts of snacks: cookies, cakes, hot tea, and sweets. Now this is my favorite movie. We got even closer when we started growing up. We would talk about everything with each other: we discussed relationships, and shared our most intimate and cherished secrets, and talked about our hurts, or rejoiced in heart and soul and made plans for the future… Paul finished 9th grade at School No. 1028, and received his graduation certificate from the ‘New Century’ secondary school. In 2002, he entered Moscow Pedagogical University, majoring in Sociology. I think that at 18 he still had not decided what he wanted to be. He wanted to be a programmer, or a sociologist, or a psychologist, but one thing I know for sure: he tried to be a GOOD PERSON, someone who was kind, caring and loving. And so he was! When my daughter was born, I remember he came into the ward with flowers and all sorts of goodies. He looked so grownup: tall, handsome, and proud — he was an UNCLE! And the first word my daughter said was: How short the time was! I did not want him to go anywhere that night. I asked him to bring a videocassette back and rent a new one, but he said that he had something to do, and left… He said that he would bring it back tomorrow, but tomorrow would never come… He will always remain in my heart, and in my memories, and in the hearts and memories of our parents and his friends! I know this for sure! Written by his sister, Natalya Platonova Views: 11298 |
