Forty people were killed, and more than 90 injured.
The organizer of the attack, according to investigators, was Magomedali Vagabov, leader of the Dagestani militants. His ‘Sharia-law’ wife was Mariam Sharipova. On August 21st, 2010, Vagabov was destroyed during a special operation conducted in the Dagestani village of Gunib.
During 2010, recalled (Investigation Committee representative Vladimir) Markin, other accomplices were destroyed. In Dagestan in early April, Akhmed Rabadanov was killed, while in late August the Investigation Committee announced the elimination of Ali Isagajiyev. At the time it was reported that Rabadanov and Isagajiyev had escorted the female suicide bombers to Moscow and coordinated their actions on the day of the terrorist attacks. Yet another participant in the terrorist attacks on the Moscow subway — Daud Magomedov — carried out a terrorist attack in the city of Kizlyar on March 31st.
The Investigation Committee of the Russian Federation has established the identity of the last suspect involved in the March 2010 terrorist attacks on the Moscow subway, according to a report by ‘Interfax’ dated March 29th with reference to ICRF official representative Vladimir Markin.
“According to the information from the investigation,” Markin stated, “this man, 22-year-old Dagestan native Gusen (sic) Magomedov, accompanied the two female suicide bombers from Kizlyar to Moscow, and directly supervised by their actions on the day the terrorist attacks were committed.”
“Magomedov’s whereabouts have not yet been established, and he has been placed on the international most-wanted list,” reported the ICRF official.
Despite the fact that investigators were able to identify all suspects in the crime by the first anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the Moscow subway, “the investigation continues,” reported Markin on March 29th, 2011. He added that to date the size of the criminal case is 110 volumes, and 168 people have been recognized as victims.
