In four years the number of terrorist attacks in Russia has decreased by 15 Interior Ministry chief Rashid Nurgaliyev said that over the past four years the number of terrorist attacks in Russia has decreased by 15, according to 'RIA Novosti'. Speaking on November 28th in Moscow at the enlarged meeting of the military council of Interior Ministry forces, Nurgaliyev noted that in 2003 there were 561 terror attacks recorded, while during the first nine months of 2007 there have been 38. Moreover, according to Nurgaliyev, over the past year in the Southern Federal District, which for many years was an active site of terrorist activities, there have been no large-scale subversive and terrorist acts. The minister added that in 2007 Interior Ministry forces in the North Caucasus conducted 856 special operations and neutralized 55 leaders and members of armed gangs. Recall that in early November of 2007, Rashid Nurgaliyev announced a reduction of crime in Russia by 5.4 per cent compared with the previous year.
