Any story of the events in Beslan should come from the source — the children. Eva Yuart is convinced of this. She is a BBC correspondent and the author of two films about the school hostage tragedy in this Osetian city. Eva arrived in Beslan soon after the shootings that killed hundreds of children and adults on September 3rd, 2004. She got to know several families, members of whom lived through the three nightmarish days that followed the seizure of hostages. Several of them lost parents, brothers, or sisters in Beslan School #1. In 2005, after the end of her trip, the film ‘The Children of Beslan' was made. Four years later Eva returned to Beslan. Her interviewees were a little older, and some were difficult to recognize. Since that time they had all become her friends. The correspondent is sure that this is why she was able to get such honest and open interviews as the children describe the seizure of the school and what followed those events, as well as the course of the investigation into the events at Beslan. We offer you a fragment of Eva Yuart's film, ‘The Children of Beslan. Five Years Later'. You can watch the entire film on BBC World at 11:10, 19:10, and 23:10 Moscow time (07:10, 16:10 and 20:10 GMT) on Saturday, September 5th.
