Elena Petrovna Prisyazhnova was born on December 5th, 1955.She died on October 26th, 2002.She had a higher degree as an economist and was general director of PMK Universal, Inc.
Elena Petrovna was a person with a complex destiny.Until 1991 her life was like the average Soviet – school, institute, social work in the Komsomol and trade union, family, trade work in construction agencies, engineer, and finally chief of a structural division.
Then came the fateful 1990s, and decades of a carefully organized life collapsed.Elena Petrovna, however, together with a group of like-minded individuals, did not allow the firm where she had worked almost her entire life to collapse.Going for months without pay, she and her friends continued building homes in Moscow and Lower Muscovy, saving jobs and production capacities, and ensuring their workers and colleagues places to live.
Life continued to deliver pitiless blows.In 1999, her husband died, and in 2001, her daughter as well.But Elena Petrovna was unbroken.Despite the bitterness of these heavy loses, she remained a loving daughter, caring for her sick, elderly mother, and thoughtful and attentive to her friends and loved ones.
Then fate readied its final blow.On a rainy October evening, together with two colleagues from her firm, she went to see the musical ‘Nord-Ost’, and…NONE of the three returned.Elena Petrovna, her friend Anya Shifrina, and fellow engineer Volodya Radchenko, died during the storming of the theater.Representatives of the most peaceful profession on earth, the builders, fell like soldiers in the Chechen war.
But I, the writer of these lines, am confident that those guilty of the tragedies at Budennovsk, Moscow, and Beslan will not escape retribution.“The ashes of Klaas are knocking on my heart”*, and our tears for our fallen loved ones pour onto them a hundredfold.
